Department of Chemistry

Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry started functioning with the very inception of the college in the year 1965. B.Sc. Chemistry course was introduced in the year 1981. The department was elevated to the status of a post graduate department in 2001.  A well equipped research laboratory (DST - FIST sponsored) was set up in 2020 to carry out the cutting edge research activities in all important areas in chemistry and for sharing technical expertise with the surrounding community and the state. A number of UGC minor research projects have been completed by the various faculty members.

The main emphasis of the department is to enable the students with deep knowledge and awareness of advanced developments in the field of Chemistry. The department takes pride in guiding the students towards careers in Chemistry and also motivates students to take up research. Academic brilliance of Chemistry department is proved by the students who had secured top positions in the University examinations. Many of our alumni are working in various fields including education, industry and research. The department is well recognized through many of its alumni who work in various fields including education, industry as well as research.
